Book presentation with Jakob Hein: "How Grischa almost brought about world peace with a daring idea"
7 p.m.
A little weed, a brilliant coup, and the miracle of Bavaria—Jakob Hein's absurdly funny novel about one of Germany's greatest mysteries: How did the East Germans once persuade Bavarian Prime Minister Franz Josef Strauß to save their bankrupt state with a billion-dollar loan? A wonderfully wacky story featuring one of literature's most laid-back heroes, set in Berlin-Mitte from Neukirchner to Bernauer Strasse.
Jakob Hein will read excerpts from his recently published novel. Jörg Braunsdorf will moderate the event. Jens-Karsten Stoll will provide musical accompaniment.
