German Prize for Choral Conducting with the RIAS Chamber Choir Berlin

Saturday, 10. Oct 2026

7:00 p.m.

St. Elisabeth

Once again, the RIAS Chamber Choir Berlin is performing alongside the finalists of the German Music Council’s Conducting Forum.

Whether as chorus master at the Stuttgart State Opera, faculty members at conservatories, or principal conductor of the SWR Vocal Ensemble—the careers of the finalists in the six German Choral Conducting Prizes held to date are diverse and impressive.

In 2008, the German Music Council’s “Forum Dirigieren” scholarship program was expanded to include choral conducting. Even back then, the RIAS Chamber Choir Berlin was a key driving force behind this expansion and has since been a regular partner of the German Music Council in organizing workshops and the German Prize for Choral Conducting.

This year, too, highly talented conductors have qualified for the finals and will embark on a journey through the choral repertoire of the 16th to 20th centuries with the RIAS Chamber Choir. In addition to the prize money, which will be awarded by a high-caliber, international jury, the audience will once again have the opportunity to select their favorite candidate with an Audience Choice Award.

The concert will be recorded by Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
