Music in the Sophienkirche: Organ concert by Steffen Walther
6 p.m.
Organ concert | Music in the Sophienkirche | Early music
The program includes works related to Passiontide from various musical cycles by Olivier Messiaen. The framework is provided by two major organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach, which both open and close the evening. Steffen Walther is a lecturer in artistic and liturgical organ playing in Dresden and Leipzig and serves as cantor at the Kreuzkirche in Chemnitz. His deep musical understanding and expressiveness promise an impressive sound experience.
At the organ concerts in the Sophienkirche, a video transmission in the nave allows the audience to experience the organists' fascinating hand and footwork up close.
