Action Day #BerlinIsCulture

Preventing cultural decline: In view of the impending cuts in Berlin's budget, Berlin's diverse cultural scene has launched a joint campaign. It will kick off with the #BerlinIstKultur action day on October 16, 2024. On this day, there will be a variety of protest actions, also involving the public, in Berlin's cultural institutions, at venues of the independent scene, and throughout the city! The campaign will continue on October 17 with background discussions at the plenary session of the Berlin House of Representatives and will run until the final budget decisions are made in November 2024. The alliance calls on the Berlin government not to implement the announced cuts, but to withdraw them.  All participating artists and institutions are designing actions that seem appropriate in view of their audience and the character of their artistic work or their institution. All of them are "embellishing" the houses and places of art with red/white barrier tape, including art in public spaces. Further information can be found at www.BerlinIstKultur.de.
