FEMALE VOICE OF KURDISTAN

Through cinematic portraits, live concerts and a virtual festival on our YouTube channel, we try to present the diversity of Kurdish culture, which a traveler today cannot easily experience due to complex political limitations.

Yalda Yazdani and Andreas Rochholl traveled to various regions of Kurdistan and portray eight singers from the four main regions of Kurdish culture: Northern Kurdistan (Bakur in the south of Turkey): BERFIN AKTAY and SAKINA TEYNA - Southern Kurdistan (Başǔr' Autonomous Region of Kurdistan in northern Iraq): KAWYAR HADI and WAJEDA KHERO - Western Kurdistan (Rojava in eastern Syria): JINDA KANJO and SÎDAR IBRAHIM - Eastern Kurdistan (Rojhelat in western Iran): SAHAR LOTFI and HANI MOJTAHEDY.

After numerous stage projects, ZOB embarked on a search for new performative forms, including in the digital world, even before the Corona pandemic. On their YouTube channel, the videos of the "Female Voice of Iran" and "Female Voice of Afghanistan" festivals have now reached more than 5 million views.
