Experience the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in Virtual Reality! In "Future Presence II: Ives Ensemble", the audience has the opportunity to immerse themselves in Charles Ives' seminal composition "The Unanswered Question" in St. Elisabeth Church.

By dividing the work into instrumental groups, Ives intends to create a spatial experience. "Future Presence II" takes this experience to a new level by allowing the spatial element of the composition itself to be discovered. The virtual performance of this short, philosophical work is the first recording that can wholly account for the work's most important musical features: Space, distance and existence itself. It is the result of the second phase of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra's exploration of 3D sound, which so far has ranged from a string quintet by Mozart to Mendelssohn's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

As part of the VR experience, the audience will also be able to interact with MCO musicians:ing and Henrik Oppermann, 3D sound expert and MCO Artistic Partner for Immersive Experiences.
