Organ Concert | Contemporary Organ Music

Susanne Kujala (Foto: Maarit Kytöhaju)

Collaboration with female composers is an essential part of the artistic work of the concert organist Susanne Kujala, who lives in Finland. She has now performed the world premieres of over 60 contemporary solo and chamber works, concertos with orchestra, and several works for microtonal organ.

Her repertoire ranges from the oldest surviving organ music to music of the 21st century. In the Sophienkirche, Kujala creates an extremely charming program of contemporary music by Nico Muhly, Régis Campo and Veli Kujala, whose works she contrasts with compositions from the earlier centuries by Jean Sibelius, Paul Hofhaimer and Johann Sebastian Bach.
